Bathing Services
The Joybound Grooming Salon’s signature seven-step bath includes: shampoo to get the dirt off your pup, a second shampooing with conditioner to make your pup soft and fresh, ear cleaning, ear hair trimming if needed, anal gland expression, nail trimming/filing, paw pad trimming, thorough brushing, and gentle hand-drying for each dog’s comfort. Prices vary by your dog’s size.

Full-Service Haircuts & Grooming
Is it time for a makeover? Our full-service haircuts include our signature seven-step bathing process (multiple baths, conditioner, ear cleaning, gland expression, nail trimming/filing, thorough brushing, paw pad trimming, and hand drying), as well as a personalized hair cut based upon your preference and the groomer’s recommendation. We also offer a simple grooming option, with a quick trim around the face, feet, and rear and no bathing. Prices may vary by your dog’s size.

Desensitization
We know some dogs are extra-sensitive around strangers and strange environments and the grooming process can be especially difficult for them. Desensitization is recommended for dogs with high levels of anxiety or stress. This introduction to our Grooming Salon exposes dogs to the sounds, smells and active environment. Through this process, dogs will work towards confidence around nail clippers, a nail dremel, a high-velocity dryer, and mounting and dismounting our bathtubs and grooming tables.
Please note: Desensitization does not include any bathing or grooming, just preparation for future grooming appointments.
Desensitization Session
Desensitization exposes your dog to the tools, sounds, smells, and environment of a grooming salon. For dogs of any age.

Individual Services
Looking for some specialty services without the need for a full bath and/or haircut? We’ve got you covered! While anal gland expression, ear cleaning, and nail trims are offered as part of our signature seven-step bath and our haircut appointments, you can book a standalone appointment for them as well.
Gland Expression
Externally expressing a dog’s anal glands can prevent infection, irritation, and impaction.

Your dog’s ears will be cleaned with gentle ear solution on cotton rounds.

Nails can be clipped dremeled, or filed depending on your dog’s needs and preferences.

Grooming Salon Information
Upon arrival, our friendly staff will discuss your dog’s specific grooming needs and any special considerations. We strive to create a stress-free experience for both you and your pet, with most grooming sessions completed within a few hours. Cancellations
If you have to cancel your grooming appointment, we kindly ask that you do so at least 24 hours in advance on the client portal. If you cancel after this period, the 20% deposit on your booking will be withheld as a cancellation fee. For same-day cancellations please give our team a call at (925) 212-2024.

Dog Grooming FAQs
How long does grooming take?
It’s difficult to say! Every dog has individual needs, so the appointment duration will be discussed at drop-off.
We can offer express services for dogs that require a shorter grooming service due to their age, health, or temperament. Please tell us if you need an express appointment before check-in.
Do you groom cats?
Services at Joybound’s Grooming Salon are currently only available for dogs.
What are my payment options?
Joybound’s Grooming Salon only accepts credit cards.
Is there a cancellation fee?
Your appointment deposit will be withdrawn if you do not cancel the appointment within 24 hours. Exceptions may be made due to health issues for you or your dog.
Do you groom puppies?
Our grooming instructors and students enjoy working with puppies. Your puppy’s first visit should be a bath or a simple tidying up to introduce them to the grooming process.
Do you groom senior dogs?
Our grooming instructors and students enjoy working with senior pets.
What should I do to prepare for my dog’s appointment?
Grooming salons can be a loud, noisy place and may cause stress for some dogs. Be sure to discuss any stress triggers, as well as calming techniques, with your grooming instructor at check-in. Feel free to send us an email at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
Who will be grooming my dog?
Joybound’s grooming salon is an academy where our students will be performing all grooming services with supervision from our grooming instructors.
Where do I enter for the Grooming Academy?
The Grooming Academy has a designated entrance. Please look for the Engelstad Grooming Academy signage to the right of the main adoption entrance (from the outside of the building).
When do I have to pick up my dog?
We require you to pick up your dog within 30 minutes of being notified.
