National Thrift Shop Day, celebrated each year on August 17, is a reminder that thrift stores do far more than offer great finds at great prices. Many thrift stores are nonprofit organizations, using donated items and store sales to support meaningful work in their communities
When you shop or donate at a nonprofit thrift store, the dollars raised are reinvested back into the community through programs such as healthcare, housing support, job training, education, food assistance, Veterans’ services, and other essential resources. Thrift stores also support sustainability by keeping usable items in circulation and out of landfills, contributing to a more circular way of consuming
This Thrift Store Crawl brings these ideas together by inviting you to visit local thrift shops, discover new stores, learn what each one supports, and see how shopping thoughtfully and donating intentionally can create real, positive change for both the community and the environment.
Spend $10 at each participating store to earn a sticker. Collect all stickers, then return your completed brochure with your information to any store for entry into the raffle, drawn the week of August 25.

“We’re excited to join fellow East Bay thrift organizations in encouraging the community to shop secondhand, support local causes, and discover hidden treasures throughout our community.”

How It Works
The East Bay Thrift Crawl encourages bargain hunters, vintage lovers, and eco-conscious consumers to explore local thrift stores while reducing waste and giving pre-loved items a second life. Every purchase helps keep usable goods out of landfills while supporting organizations that strengthen East Bay communities.
- Visit any participating thrift store between August 1 and August 18.
- Spend $10 or more and receive a Thrift Crawl brochure and your first sticker.
- Visit each remaining participating location and earn a sticker with every purchase of $10 or more.
- Collect a sticker from all participating organizations.
- Turn in your completed brochure for a chance to win the Grand Prize Bundle — featuring 11 gift cards totaling $275, with a $25 gift card from each participating organization.
- The grand prize drawing will take place during the week of August 24.
