A Partnership that Makes a Difference

For 18 years, Purina and Petfinder have helped make countless life-changing moments possible for pets and the people who love them. During a recent visit to Joybound’s Walnut Creek headquarters, we had the opportunity to thank these longtime partners whose support has played a vital role in expanding access to adoption, veterinary care, humane education, and other programs that strengthen the bond between people and pets.

As one of Purina’s inaugural Shelter Champions partners, Joybound’s relationship began with the Purina ONE Shelter Pet Program in 2008. Together, we have supported thousands of pet families with nutrition and nutrition education, worked together for passage of the PAWS Act to secure psychiatric service dogs for Veterans, and even made history when the first Shelter to Service dog entered the National Dog Show ring with her Veteran handler.

Thanks to Purina’s ongoing support, pets and families in our community receive help when they need it most. Donations of pet food and litter care for animals staying at Joybound, while support for our FoodShare program helps Contra Costa County pet guardians keep their beloved companions healthy, fed, and in loving homes. Purina’s commitment also extends to the Nestlé Purina Training Pavilion, a vibrant space where people and pets build stronger bonds through training classes, events, and community programs.

Petfinder showcases shelter animals to millions of potential adopters through its searchable online database of more than 11,000 North American shelters and rescue groups. This partnership vastly boosts shelter animals’ visibility and supports quicker placement of loving homes for animals at Joybound and beyond, and aligns with our shared mission to provide compassionate care and lifelong connections.

We look forward to continuing to work together to create stronger bonds between people and pets while innovating for their needs in the future.
