Renowned Animal Behaviorist Dr. Wailani Sung Joins Joybound 

Will head up Joybound People & Pets’ Training and Enrichment Program 

WALNUT CREEK, CA, May 13, 2024 – Joybound People & Pets, formerly Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) is thrilled to welcome Dr. Wailani Sung on board to lead the organization’s animal intake, training, and enrichment operations. Dr. Sung, a board-certified veterinary behaviorist, previously served as the director of behavior and welfare programs for the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SFSPCA). She is well known to many for her featured role in the popular Netflix documentary “Inside the Mind of a Cat.” 

“We are overjoyed to have Dr. Sung on the Joybound leadership team,” said Joybound CEO Susan Lee Vick. “Training is key to reducing stress and anxiety in pets and their human guardians. It strengthens the human-animal bond, bringing more joy to guardians and everyone who encounters a well-mannered dog or cat. Dr. Sung’s expertise will mean Joybound can connect and support many more pet families, helping them share a lifetime of happiness together.” 

Dr. Sung is passionate about preventing or effectively managing behavior challenges in companion animals to help them and their families maintain a high quality of life. She is a nationally in-demand speaker, educator, and author who has written for several veterinary textbooks and is the author of Decoding Your Cat and co-author of From Fearful to Fear Free. In addition to “Inside the Mind of a Cat,” Dr. Sung appeared in the documentary “Cat Tales.” Dr. Sung is a frequent contributor to PetMD and Reader’s Digest. She obtained her master’s degree, a doctorate in psychology, and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia.
