Joybound People & Pets Rescues 10 Dogs from Hoarding Situation in Stockton
WALNUT CREEK, CA – Earlier this week, more than 60 dogs were discovered living in heartbreaking conditions in a hoarding situation in Stockton and in need of care. Understanding how challenging hoarding cases can be for local agencies, Joybound People & Pets proactively reached out to Stockton Animal Services and offered support.
On Tuesday, Joybound’s team hit the road and brought 10 of these dogs — many of them Yorkshire Terrier, Poodle, and Chihuahua mixes — into our care. Upon arrival at Joybound’s Walnut Creek campus, each dog received a thorough veterinary exam, urgently needed medical treatment, and compassionate attention to begin the healing process. These dogs will soon be available for adoption and, thanks to swift action and community support, are now on the path to loving homes and a brighter future.

Why It Matters:
This rescue highlights the power of collaboration and the critical role of community-supported organizations in responding to crisis situations. These lifesaving efforts are made possible through the generosity of donors and Joybound’s commitment to the human-animal bond. “Dogs recovering from situations like this are just as deserving of love as any other companion animal,” said Miguel Abi-hassan, Chief Programs Officer of Joybound People & Pets. “While some may need a little extra patience and understanding, they often blossom into the most affectionate and loyal pets — deeply appreciating the comfort, safety, and care that only a loving home can provide.”
By reporting on this story, you help shine a light on the ongoing realities of animal neglect — and the hope that comes from rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption. Media coverage builds awareness, inspires action, and helps bring even more animals in need to safety.
