The Joybound family tragically lost someone very special this year. We’d like to take a moment to give special recognition and tribute to Jennifer Peabody, Joybound’s longtime Veterinary Services Administrator. After more than 21 years with the organization, the impact Jen had on shelter animals, pet guardians, her co-workers, and the animal welfare community is immeasurable.

Always approaching every day with her trademark, beaming smile, and blessed with the ability to capture a room with pure charisma and positivity, Jen spent her professional career and personal life as a force for good. An animal-lover to her core, she adopted eight Joybound animals over her two decades with the organization, including Daisy, a popular member of our Pet Hug Pack® therapy animal team.

While Jen Peabody will never be forgotten here at Joybound, it feels right to remember her in a more tangible way as well. So as we roll out our fleet of vibrant, state-of-the-art vehicles, we are proud to announce our 33-foot, custom built mobile veterinary clinic has been dubbed “Peabody” in Jen’s honor. Now, every time the mobile clinic spends a day giving wellness checks to Veterans’ pets at the Department of Veterans Affairs, spaying and neutering pets outside Pet Food Express, or vaccinating animals at Antioch Animal Services, Jen’s unique, buoyant spirit will be felt by all. That is her legacy – giving back to animals in need.

So please join us in paying tribute to Jen Peabody: a true hero for the animals.
