Canine Summer School is in Session
Whether you have a new puppy in need of crucial socialization, a longtime pet who could use a refresher, a reactive dog who makes neighborhood walks difficult, or even a perfectly-behaved dog who is looking for a fun enrichment activity — our award-winning dog training classes have something for everyone!

All ARF training classes are held at our fabulous Walnut Creek headquarters, are hosted by our skilled instructors, and benefit our lifesaving work. Plus, all our dog training is done via “fear-free” positive reinforcement methods, for both shelter animals and public classes. With such a wide variety of class offerings, we’re sure you can find something that suits you and your canine companion.

Calling All Super-Cute Pets!
Is your pet model material? Here’s your chance to prove it by submitting your pet’s photo to be part of ARF’s 4th annual Sit, Stay, Smile Photo Contest!
Submissions and votes will be accepted through August 27, with exciting prizes for our highest-voted animals.
- The top five cats and top five dogs will be featured in next year’s printed pet calendar, which is available for purchase in our in-house boutique.
- Each winner will also receive a beautiful, one-of-a-kind art commission of their winning photo.
- Even more exciting is the grand prize: your pet gracing the label of an upcoming seasonal beer from Del Cielo Brewing Company, a local brewery in Martinez, CA.
