Joybound People & Pets is thrilled to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its flagship event: Joybound Around Town on Broadway (formerly known as Animals on Broadway)! Get ready for a day packed with live music, the always-adorable Paw-rade Walk, the Pet Wellness Festival, costume contests, and plenty of fun for people and pets alike.
Hundreds of thousands have joined us over the years to celebrate the incredible bond we share with our furry friends — and this year will be bigger than ever! Your participation helps raise vital funds to support Joybound People & Pets programs across Contra Costa County, while bringing the community together for a day of joy, connection, and a whole lot of tail wags.

The Pre-Event Fundraiser
Leading up to the day of festivities, animal-lovers and Joybound supporters are invited to fundraise as an individual or join a team to help raise funds for Joybound’s programs supporting the connection between people and pets through a lifetime partnership.  Along the way, there are fun prizes available for teams and fundraisers, not to mention serious bragging rights.
Every dollar raised makes a life-changing difference for pets and the people who love them.

The Paw-rade Pet Walk
The event itself begins on September 14 at 11 AM with a celebratory pet walk. Participants make the easy, one-mile trek around Broadway Plaza with their furry friends. Team leaders use Joybound’s online portal to invite friends, family, co-workers, and any other fellow animal lovers to join their team and raise funds to give more animals safe, healthy, loving homes. We even have exciting prizes for our top fundraisers and top fundraising teams!
The Pet Welless Festival
After the completion of the Paw-rade, the day of fun continues into the afternoon with our pet wellness festival! With the streets of Broadway Plaza lined with pet-related booths and activities, guests will enjoy fun for pets and people of all ages.
Plus, don’t miss the event’s popular Best-Dressed Pet Contest on the main stage and our roving Pet Look-a-Like Contests throughout the day — if your beloved pet bears a striking resemblance to Dorothy’s Toto, Jon Arbuckle’s Garfield, or Superman’s Krypto, put their cute mug to the test.
