4½ months old, 40 pounds, Oakland

Yoshi is a sweet and incredibly smart 4.5-month-old puppy, already weighing nearly 40 lbs, so he’s sure to grow into a large dog. He’s learned many commands already and is quick to pick up new skills, showing a great love for training. Yoshi is potty trained, sleeps soundly through the night on his dog bed, and enjoys snuggling on the couch for tummy rubs in the evening. He does well with other dogs in playgroups and at daycare, but as a young pup, he’s still working on leash manners and learning to be less jumpy and nippy. With time and continued training, he’ll be a fantastic companion.

Yoshi does have some areas for improvement, including his tendency to bark a lot, especially at people, dogs, or cars during walks. However, he’s currently enrolled in a leash manners class, where he’s making steady progress. He doesn’t bark at visitors in the home and would thrive with someone who can continue working on his reactivity. Yoshi would do best in a home without young children and may benefit from having another large dog to help teach him good manners. While he hasn’t met cats, he has a strong chase drive, so small animals might be a challenge. Yoshi is up to date on vaccinations and has completed basic puppy classes. He’s also starting to learn fun games like fetch to burn off his energy.
