1 year old, 61 pounds, Manteca.

PERSONALITY: Pine has a heart of gold – he’s very sweet and loving, and is a low-maintenance guy, especially for his size and age. He loves to play with squeaky toys, run around in the yard or on grass, and go for walks. He shows interest in other dogs on leash but is not aggressive, and shares his foster home with two small female dogs and a bunny – he would likely enjoy another furry family member to play with. He absolutely loves lounging in soft places (sofa, bed, or a fluffy blanket). He is not your typical vocal shepherd, although he may bark if a stranger is at your door or he sees a squirrel. The only thing that makes Pine not the “perfect” dog is that he can be skittish, mostly around unfamiliar men, new places, or with very loud noises. Pine will take longer to warm up to adult males. But he absolutely loves women! He knows “sit” but has not been trained on any other commands. He has not been destructive in the home, but may do some digging if left alone for too long outside. He asks for very little in life, just a warm place to sleep and lots of love and pets. 🙂

PINE’S JOURNEY: After being added to their euthanasia list, Pine was rescued from a Central Valley shelter where he sadly spent all of his puppyhood. Although his adoptive family did not think he would be the best fit for their household, they fell in love with him and were determined to save him, and independently foster him until they could find his forever home.
