A Joybound volunteer’s love letter to her foster dog
From couch cuddler to a cherished family member — I’m excited to share that Ember has found his forever home and is living his best life!
I fostered Ember in my home for several months, and it was an incredible experience. It was my longest stint as a foster, and the experience was filled with joy and learning. Ember is a sweet, affectionate, and playful pup who brought so much energy and love into my life. Though he might have felt a bit stressed at the shelter, his true nature shone through in the comfort of home, where he loved curling up on the couch and snuggling close.
Ember’s gentle demeanor extends to everyone he meets. He enjoyed playing and cuddling with my dog and my friends’ dogs. Like many shelter animals, we don’t know when or where Ember was born or about his life before he came to Joybound, but his transformation since then has been remarkable.
“Opening your home to a foster dog or cat can bring immense love, laughter, and companionship.”
He mastered house training and picked up essential commands like sitting, lying, and staying. Most importantly, Ember discovered the joy of being part of a loving family. It is incredibly rewarding to see him flourish and become the wonderful companion he was always meant to be.
Fostering isn’t just about providing a temporary home — it’s about impacting a pet’s life. If you’re considering becoming a volunteer foster, I encourage you to reach out to the Joybound team or visit joybound.org/foster for more information.
